Bridge washed away due to rain

Palghar, Policenama Online –  According to officials, a major part of a bridge across a river in Palghar district in Maharashtra was washed away on Thursday due to heavy and continuous rainfall.

District disaster management department chief said that no one was hurt due to the bridge being washed away.

The bridge was located over a small river at Morchundi village in Mokhada taluka, he said.

A police official informed that a major portion of the bridge got washed away early morning. Vehicular movement was stopped on either side of the bridge to prevent any mishap.

Traffic movement from Jawhar taluka to neighbouring Nashik district was suspended, the official said.
In another incident, huge boulders rolled down the Torangana Ghat slope and crashed into the wall of a bridge located on Mokhada Trimbakeshwar route, the official said, adding, “This affected vehicular movement from Mokhada taluka to Nashik.”
