Pune : Policenama onlineCrypto currency fraud | The Pune police have arrested two cyber experts for their involvement in a fraud of crypto currency worth crores of rupees. The police have seized mobiles, MacBooks, hard disks, tabs, laptops, CDs and other equipment. The court has remanded the accused in police custody till March 19. The accused have been identified as Pankaj Prakash Ghode (38), a resident of Tadiwala Road, Pune and Ravindranath Prabhakar Patil (45), a resident of Bibvewadi, Pune.

 

According to the police, the cyber police have seized 3 mobiles, 2 MacBooks, 3 hard disks, 2 tabs, 2 laptops, 4 CDs, 6 pen drives, 2 memory cards, 3 smart watches, 21 ATM cards, 1 pendrive card, 2 identity cards, 7 visiting cards, 2 passes, 2 cheque books, 2 passbooks, 1 IPad, 1 sim card, 2 passports, 1 charger, WDC company’s documents, 8 diaries, 1 notepad sheet and 1 router from Pankaj Ghode. They have seized 4 laptops, 12 mobiles, 11 pendrives, A4 size paper, 1 IPad, 2 tabs, 1 hotspot device, 2 internet routers, 1 internet dongle, 6 hard disks, 9 diaries of various colours, 4 DVDs, 3 CDs, treasure wallet, memory card and a computer from Ravindranath Patil.

 

The incident has taken place from April 2018 to now at cyber police station Pune city and other places of the accused online. Pankaj Ghode and Ravindranath Patil were helping the Dattawadi and Nigdi police stations as technical experts for crimes committed in 2018.

 

They misused the data given to them in good faith by the investigating officer and the police and used it for their financial benefit. In the technical analysis, they prepared a fake report and took crypto currency worth crores of rupees and cheated the government and investors.

 

Many important things have been seized from them after the case has been filed. The action was taken by a team of police officials including PI Ankush Chintaman, PI Minal Supe Patil, Rajurkar Khedkar, Koli, Bhosale, Bhapkar, Nalavade, API Walke, PSI Nemane, Dafal, Padval, and 27 policemen from the cyber police station and science lab official Tejas Katte, Tanuja Suryarao, Rahul Kanoj and Mrs Gaikwad under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Bhagyashree Navtake, ACP Vijaykumar Palsule and Senior Police Inspector DS Hake.
