Pune : DCP Sandeep Singh Gill | Three police personnel have been suspended in the attempt to murder case in Sadashiv Peth, where a jilted lover attacked his 19-year-old girlfriend with a sickle in broad daylight.
The accused has been arrested and investigation is underway. DCP Sandeep Singh Gill suspended the three police personnel, including a police constable, at the Perugate Police Chowki which falls under the Vishrambaug Police Station. The suspended cops have been charged with dereliction of duty. An order in this regard was issued on Wednesday night.
The suspended policemen have been identified as Sunil Shantaram Tathe, Prashant Prakash Jagdale and Sagar Namdeo Rane. The incident took place on Tuesday morning in Sadashiv Peth. The youth had chased the young woman and injured her with the sickle. He had also hurt a young man accompanying her. The police then arrested Shantanu Laxman Jadhav (21).
The horror was taking place at a short distance from the Perugate Police Chowki. However, the three policemen were not present at the chowky. Hence, they have been suspended, said DCP Gill. Meanwhile, the court has sent the accused to police custody for five days. The police are interrogating him.
