Pune : Policenama online Pune Kasba Peth Bypoll Election | Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said the BJP has been following the policy of ‘use and throw’. The late MLA Mukta Tilak’s family was used but not given the party ticket. MP Girish Bapat, who is very ill, was asked to campaign in the Kasba Peth by-election. Responding to Uddhav Thackeray’s criticism, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis explained why Bapat was asked to campaign in the bypoll. (Pune Kasba Peth Bypoll Election)

Fadnavis said, “You don’t know Girish Bapat. He is a BJP leader who has built the party from bottom to top. He has dedicated his life to the BJP. How can he sit at home, if the election is going on in his own constituency?” Fadnavis was speaking in an interview with a news channel.

Fadnavis said, “We did not ask Bapat to attend the poll meeting. When I went to meet him, I could see the tension on his face. He told me that opponents were spreading rumours that he was not happy with the choice of the candidate. He would not tolerate it. So he decided to address a rally. I asked him not to address a rally but send out a message. But he was so disturbed by the statements of the opponents that as soon as I left, the next day, he spoke.”
