1,700 police personnel deployed for Kasba Peth by-elections

Pune : Policenama online Pune Kasba Peth Bypoll Election | The voting for the by-election in the Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency will be held on Sunday. The police have made elaborate arrangements to conduct the polling peacefully. Strict security will be deployed on the polling day. In the by-election, nine polling stations are sensitive and additional arrangements will be made there. (Pune Kasba Peth Bypoll Election)

 

The by-election in the Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency has attracted the attention of the entire state. The police have made arrangements to ensure peaceful conduct of the polling process and to avoid any untoward incident. There will be a heavy police presence in different areas of Kasba Peth constituency from Saturday. The arrangement has been planned under the guidance of CP Retesh Kumaarr and Joint CP Sandeep Karnik.

 

As many as 1,700 police personnel will be deployed on the polling day. Around 1,000 police officers and personnel of the city police force, 500 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force and 100 personnel of the State Reserve Police Force will be on duty. Police Commissioner Retesh Kumarr addressed a press conference. He said that Rapid Action Force units will be deployed to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the polling. Special Branch DCP R Raja was present.

 

The by-elections are being held within the limits of Samarth, Faraskhana, Vishram Baugh, Khadak, Dattawadi police stations. He said that voting will be held at 270 booths at 76 polling stations and all the shops, restaurants, food carts, bars within a distance of 100 metres from the polling stations have been ordered to be closed.

 

Preventive action against criminals
For the Kasba Peth by-election, the police had installed check posts at various places. During the blockade, the police seized Rs 32.18 lakh. The cash has been handed over to the election officials. The police confiscated liquor worth Rs 33,785. In the backdrop of the by-election, the police have taken preventive action against 2,789 criminals. Action was taken against those possessing illegal weapons. As many as 119 weapons were seized from them.
