Hyderabad, Feb 23 (UNI) – Hyderabad News | Customs Officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shashabad near here have seized 14.415 kgs of Gold, worth Rs 7,89, 43, 544 from 23 air passengers. (Hyderabad News)
The Yellow Metal was seized from the passengers who arrived from Sudan via Sharjah by flight G9 458 in the early hours on Wednesday, Customs official sources said on Thursday.
All passengers are Sudan nationals. They concealed the gold at different places such as small cavities created in the shoes, gold tied under the feet and also hidden folds of their clothes and among other places.
Of the total gold of 14.9063 kgs, 14.415 kgs as 22 karat and 0.491 kgs as 24 karats, valued at a total of Rs 7,89,43,544.
Based on the quantity recovered from individual passengers, 4 of them were arrested.
In the recent past, this is one of the biggest seizures of gold by Hyderabad Customs at RGIA, the sources added.
