Pune : Policenama online – The number of trains leaving from the Hadapsar terminal will be increased to ease the load on the Pune railway station and for the convenience of commuters, said Central Railway (CR) General Manager Anil Kumar Lahoti on Friday.

Lahoti was addressing a press meet after he reviewed development work being carried out on the Lonavala-Daund route. DRM Ranu Sharma was present. The Hadapsar terminal is being developed as a satellite terminal. Currently, only one train, Hadapsar-Hyderabad, leaves from here. (Hadapsar Satellite Terminal |)

It has been decided to release more trains from the Hadapsar terminal. There is no adequate land available with the terminal. However, efforts are being made to acquire adjacent land belonging to a private company. Once the land is acquired, it would be possible to increase the number of trains from the terminal, claimed Lahoti.

CCTV cameras have been installed under the ‘Nirbhaya Fund’ at the Pune, Shivajinager, Khadki, Dapodi, Kasarwadi, Pimpri and Chinchwad railway stations. The capacity of each camera is two mega pixels. This will curb crimes at these stations, said Lahoti.

Train speed on Lonavala-Talegaon route is 110 kmph. A test was conducted on Friday to run trains at 120 kmph on this route. Trains run at 120 kmph between Uruli Kanchan and Patas. A test was done to increase it up to 130 kmph. Both the tests were successful. Hence, there is a possibility of increasing the speed of long-route trains between Pune and Daund.

Lahoti said there is no plan to upgrade the Pune-Daund route to the ‘local train service’ status. The DEMU service will continue on this route.

He said the Pimpri railway station has become the first green railway station in Pune Division as all electrical appliances at this station run on solar energy.
