PUNE : LGBTQIA+ Community – Pride Parade In Pune | Every year, all over the world, pride parades of LGBTQIA+ community are organised. This year, the office of Maharashtra’s chief election commission and district election office, Pune is taking part in the pride parade to be organised by Yutak.

 

This is the first time that the office of the election commission is participating in the event. The pride parade is going to be organised from 4 pm to 5 pm on June 4 on the following route: Sambhaji Garden-Deccan bus stop-Goodluck Chowk-FC Gate-Shirole Road-Sambhaji Garden.
In June 1969, members of LGBT community had raised their voice to protest against the atrocities committed against them in New York city. Since then, June is recognised by this community as pride month. During this month, members of LGBTQA+ community conduct marches by carrying different flags.

 

Chief Election Commissioner Shrikant Deshpande, Election Deputy Collector Bhau Galande, Yutak Director Anil Ukrande and members of LGBTQA+ community will participate in the event. A voter registration workshop has been organised for members of the third gender community at Mangalya Hall, Dagdusheth Datta Temple.

 

Chief Election Commissioner Shrikant Deshpande has appealed to Puneites to take part in the event to ensure greater acceptance of LGBTQIA+ community by the society.
