Pune : Policenama online | Maharashtra Rains : The city has been receiving showers for the past six days. Heavy showers were witnessed in Pune and its suburbs on Thursday. The met office has predicted light rain for the next five days in the city and its surrounding areas. Heavy rain is predicted in the ghat sections.

The city got heavy showers on Thursday. It recorded 5.6 mm of rainfall while 6.2 mm was recorded at Lohegaon. A red alert was issued in Pune district on Thursday by the Mumbai Meteorological Centre. Losses were reported at many places in the district due to heavy rain.

Meanwhile, medium showers are likely to occur in the district on Friday. Later, Pune and its suburbs are likely to get light rain.

Mumbai : Policenama online  – Maharashtra Rains | Train services on the Konkan Railway route were affected due to heavy rains and flooding of rivers in Maharashtra, leaving around 6000 passengers stranded. Rail and road traffic has been affected in many other parts of the state including Mumbai due to heavy rains. Due to this the authorities had to call in the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to assist the administration for the rescue work.

Meanwhile, in Kolhapur district of the state, as many as 47 villages were cut off after roads were inundated due to heavy rains and 965 families had to be shifted to safer places. Officials gave this information. They said that two people, including a woman, died in flood water at different places in the district during the rains. So far nine trains have been diverted or cancelled or shortened due to the affected Konkan Railway route….Click for details
