Mumbai : Policenama – Nana Patole | A charged atmosphere prevailed in the state assembly on the second day of the Monsoon session after the first day proved stormy following the suspension of 12 BJP MLAs. While the BJP MLAs held a mock assembly outside Vidhan Bhavan, serious issues were raised by the ruling combine’s legislators in the assembly.
Making a serious allegation of phone tapping, MPCC president and Congress MLA Nana Patol said, “My phone was tapped in 2016-17. I was an MP. So, there was no need to monitor my movements. However, my phone was tapped and I was named Amjad Khan.” He also alleged that besides him, phones of central minister Raosaheb Danve’s PA and MP Sanjay Kakade were tapped.
If cultured people do this, then don’t know…
“I was an MP. There was no need to monitor my movements. I was named Amjad Khan. The PA of central minister Danve’s phone was also tapped. MP Sanjay Kakade’s phone was tapped. There are many such names. They were tapping phones of their leaders. Nobody has the right to breach other’s privacy. Even religion teaches us to not indulge in wrong deeds. If cultured people do this, then I don’t know,” said Patole.
Why Muslim names?
Objecting to have code-named him as Amjad Khan, Patole said, “Why only Muslim names? They could have directly called out my name. Did they have an intention to pitch one community against another on the basis of religion?”
‘I was accused of drug dealing’
Patole said, “What is the need of tapping the phone? Who is behind this? They have launched a drive against sugar mills. Even Gadkari has been named in the complaint. Their own leaders are writing such letter. The home minister should give details on these issues. There were allegations against me that I did not have any job or profession. I was indulged in drug smuggling. I am not the only one, all those whose phones were tapped were alleged with drug dealing. Details should be given about the people whose phones were tapped. In whose directions this was being done? Government’s permission is needed before tapping phones.”
‘You will go Deshmukh, Bhujbal way. I received threats’
“We all witnessed in the House that an MLA was threatening Bhaskar Jadhav that if he speaks out, he will be fixed the way Anil Deshmukh was framed. Outside, they are also saying that Jadhav will meet Bhujbal’s fate. How can such threats be issued in the House? This indicates goon elements. Raju Sapte committed suicide. The suspect in this case is the president of an outfit and is a BJP MLA. He has been identified,” said Patole.
High-level inquiry likely
Commenting on the allegations, State Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil assured the assembly that a high-level inquiry will be conducted in the matter. The House will be informed accordingly.
