Prime Minister Modi inaugurates statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at PMC
Pune : Policenama online – PM Modi Visit To Pune | The inauguration of the statute of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (sitting on his throne) was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PMC head office in Shivajinagar on March 6 (Sunday). The height of the statue is 9.5 feet.
Modi garlanded the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Mayor Murlidhar Mohol presented a portrait of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Modi.
Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Union Social Justice Minister Ramdas Athawale, Industry Minister Subhash Desai, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, leader of the opposition Devendra Fadnavis, MP Udayanraje Bhosale, Mayor Muralidhar Mohol, Deputy Mayor Sunita Wadekar, Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasne, Ganesh Bidkar, leader of opposition in PMC Deepali Dhumal, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar and other officials were present.
Earlier, Modi paid floral tributes to the statue of great social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule.
The statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been given to the civic body by Kothrud-based Sanskruti Pratishthan. Mohol presented a shawl and a special pheta to Modi.
In 1961, during the Panshet floods, the then PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had visited the PMC and Modi is the second PM to visit the civic body.
