Police arrest inter-state gang of mobile stealing criminals; Police seize mobiles worth ₹30 lakh from accused

The accused have been identified as Asad Gulzar Mohammad (32), a resident of Delhi, Nizam Babu Qureshi (35), a resident of Uttar Pradesh, Shahbaz Bhole Khan (26), a resident of Delhi, Rahul Leeladhar Kangale (30), a resident of Ghaziabad, Nadim Ibrahim Malik (40), Prashant K Kumar, a resident of Shimoga, Karnataka.

 

Many complaints of mobile thefts had been lodged at the Viman Nagar police station. A policeman, Avinash Shewale, saw a suspicious person while he was investigating the case. When Shewale tried to stop him, he tried to run away. The police chased him and grilled him. He told them that he had come to Pune from Delhi to steal mobiles during the Vh1 Supersonic Concert.

 

He told the police that his aides were staying in Hotel Milan located near Pune railway station. A team of police officials raided Hotel Milan and apprehended other accused. The police seized mobiles worth ₹28.40 lakh from the accused. Prashant Kumar was arrested on February 24 and seized five mobiles worth ₹1.87 lakh. The police have seized mobiles worth ₹30.27 lakh from the accused. PSI Ravindra Dhaware is carrying out further investigation.

 

The action was taken by a team of police officials including Senior PI Vilas Sonde, PI (crime) Sangeeta Mali, PSI Ravindra Dhaware, SM Chaudhary, policeman Avinash Shewale, Sachin Kadam, Sachin Jadhav, Rupesh Pisal, Ankush Jogdande, Nana Karche, Yogesh Thopte, Dadasaheb Barde, Dnayandev Awari and Shivraj Chavan under the guidance of Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP Shashikant Borate and ACP Kishor Jadhav.
