Postal assistant misappropriates ₹3.59 lakh; Fails to deposit money in post office

Pune : Policenama online Pune Crime News | After an incident came to light wherein the post master took a commission of ₹24 lakh after creating an impression that the customers had invested money in another branch, a fraud committed by a postal assistant has been reported. (Pune Crime News)

 

Yogesh Nanasaheb Veer has lodged a complaint (206/23) at the Yerawada police station. Accordingly, the police have registered an FIR against Postal Assistant Bhagwan Srirang Naik (37). The incident took place at Yerawada sub post office from April 3, 2021 to October 8, 2022.

 

According to the police, Bhagwan Naik was working as a postal assistant in Yerawada post office. He distributed 196 parcels to customers. He should have deposited the ₹3.59 lakh received from customers into the post office. But he did not do so and cheated the government and customers.

 

The incident came to light during the annual checking of accounts.
