Pune Amanora Mall: Crime Branch sleuths arrest man who stole sarees, dress to gift it to his wife

Pune: Crime Branch sleuths have arrested a man on charges of stealing sarees and dresses to gift it to his wife. The suspect was nabbed from the rear side of Amanora Mall in Hadapsar area.

The suspect has been identified as Rohan Biru Sontakke (21), a resident of Warje Malwadi. Police have seized several stolen items worth Rs 13.40 lakh from the possession of Rohan. Police have claimed that he has confessed to have committed nine offences in Hadapsar, Wanawadi, Kondhwa, Marketyard, Vishrantwadi in Pune city and Chikhali area in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Usmanabad district.

According to police, Rohan had recently married a woman. In order to keep his wife happy, Rohan used to steal saree, dress and other items from shops, road-side stalls and vendors. Not only clothing, Rohan used to steal grocery items, mobiles and laptops.

The crime branch police received a tipoff that Rohan is coming near Amanora Mall to sell one of the stolen mobiles. Accordingly, police laid a trap and nabbed him. Interrogation and primary investigation revealed that Rohan has committed nine offences of burglary and vehicle theft.
