Pune Crime | Team from crime branch of Pune police nabs criminal, seizes 11 pistols worth Rs 3.5 lakh
Pune : Policenama online – Pune Crime | The team of unit six of the crime branch carried out a big operation and arrested a notorious criminal and seized 11 pistols worth Rs 3 lakh 50 thousand from him. The police also have arrested three people for buying pistols from him. The notorious criminal has been identified as Dnyaneshwar alias Rudra Sarjerao Dukre. An FIR has been registered against him at the Lonikand police station under the Arms Act.
The team of unit six of the crime branch was patrolling searching for those involved in possessing and selling illegal weapons. The team came to know that a person was going to come on Kesnand Road in Wagholi to sell pistols. The police laid a trap and arrested Dnyaneshwar alias Rudra Sarjerao Dukre (21), a resident of Shani Shingnapur, taluka Nevasa, Ahmednagar district and hailing from Tebhi Antarwai, Ghansangvi taluka, Jalna district.
When the police searched Dukre, they found 3 pistols and six live cartridges. A case was registered against him and he was produced in the court. The court has remanded him in police custody till April 25. When he was questioned, he admitted selling pistols and live cartridges to three persons. Accordingly, the police seized two pistols and two live cartridges from from Nikhil alias Sunny Balasaheb Pawar (23), a resident of near MIT College, Loni Kalbhor, a pistol and a live cartridge from Yuvraj Bapu Gund (24), a resident of Pandav Nagar, Vadki Gaon, Haveli taluka and 2 pistols and two live cartridges from Amol Navnath Tambe (27), a resident of Gotumbe Akhada, Rahuri taluka, Ahmednagar. The police also seized three pistols and three live cartridges from Dukre’s residence.
The team of unit six of the crime branch seized 11 pistols and 14 live cartridges worth Rs three lakh and 35 thousand 600. When the accused was grilled, he admitted procuring the pistols from accused Shankar Nair, a resident of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh and selling them in the Pune area.
The action was taken by a team of police officials including PI Ganesh Mane, API Narendra Patil, policemen Macchindra Walke, Vitthal Khedkar, Kanifnath Karkhele, Nitin Mundhe, Ramesh Memane, Balasaheb Sakte, Nitin Shinde, Hrishikesh Tilekar, Shekhar Kate, Prateek Lahigude, Sachin Pawar, Hrishikesh Takwane, Hrishikesh Vyavahare, Nitin Dhadge, Jyoti Kale and Suhas Tambekar under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Jt CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
