Pune: Koregaon Police arrests four for allegedly attacking a police officer

Pune: Koregaon Park police arrested four people for allegedly pushing and attacking a police officer at Koregaon Park Junction Chowk on Sunday (January 24) evening. The four were stopped by the police officer for breaking traffic signal rules.

The police officer was reportedly injured after the accused pushed and shoved the police.

The accused have been identified as Shashikant Panchlal Jaiswal (20), Devendra Rampyare Jaiswal (21), Deepak Rampyare Jaiswal (25) and Govinda Rampyare Jaiswal (23, all residents of Bopodi). Police officer Navnath Pawar has lodged a complaint in this regard.

Police officer Pawar was regulating traffic at Regaon Park Junction Chowk. At that time, Shashikant Jaiswal was trying to break the signal and run away. When Pawar stopped him from doing so, Shashikant called his partner Devendra.

Accused Shashikant shouted at Pawar saying that Police have no right to stop people. He then pushed and injured the police officer. After that, the accused called his other accomplices and hurled abuses at Pawar. Assistant Inspector Dattatreya Shinde is further investigating the case
