Pune News | Civic officials squabble during Amish Shah, Mohan Bhagwat’s visit to city

Pune: Pune News | An incident of civic officials’ fight during the VVIP visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat recently.

RSS former office-bearer Madandas Devi was recently cremated at the Vaikunth Crematorium. Shah and Bhagwat attended the funeral, where the civic officials had a quarrel. Two officials had a minor argument. Later, a Deputy Engineer beat up a senior officer with a stick and abused him.

The crematorium falls under the jurisdiction of Vishrambaugwada Ward Office. The senior officer had instructed the Deputy Engineer to clean up the area due to the VIPs’ visit. This had upset the Deputy Engineer, who thrashed the senior officer.

Will action be taken?

The senior officer did not lodge a complaint with the police fearing disrepute for the civic body. However, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar has taken a serious view of the incident. He immediately sought a report on the incident from Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sakpal. The civic chief is likely to suspend the Deputy Engineer for abusing and beating up his senior officer. The incident during the VIP visit has surprised all.

Many VIPs attend the cremation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Dattatraya Hosbale, former MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, CM Ekanath Shinde, DyCMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, BJP State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLA Ashish Shelar and many BJP leaders were present at Motibaug to pay their respect to the departed leader.

Later, Madandas Devi’s last remains were consigned to flames at the Vaikunth Crematorium.

Reason behind the quarrel

Many VVIPs were to visit the city. The Deputy Engineer was instructed to oversee the cleanliness and repairs at the funeral site by the senior civic officer. This had angered the Deputy Engineer, who abused and beat up the officer.
