Pune | Supriya Sule’s campaign banners torn apart in Baramati constituency (Video)
Pune: In what is likely to be a trigger for a tense poll campaign in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, banners of NCP (SP) candidate Supriya Sule bearing her photo and poll symbol were torn at Utroli in Bhor taluka under the constituency.
A couple of days ago, a farmers’ gathering was held by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the taluka. Bhor MLA Sangram Thopte announced his support to Supriya Sule at the programme. NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar also announced her candidature in the gathering.
The incident is not likely to go down well with the MVA. It probably indicates the level of campaign that some elements want to introduce in the constituency.
The flex banners having the photo of the NCP candidate, MVA leaders and election symbol were torn. Unidentified people may have done the mischief. Later, they were removed by MVA workers.
Supriya Sule’s sister-in-law and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, is most likely to be fielded by the ruling alliance Maha Yuti from the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. Sunetra Pawar has already started her campaign. Supriya Sule’s flex banners were raised in the areas, where Sunetra Pawar was scheduled to visit.
It is being doubted that some rival camp workers may have torn the election banners. This has obviously upset MVA workers. Political atmosphere in the constituency is heating up even before the poll code of conduct came into effect.
This indicates a likelihood of a very aggressive campaign in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency.
