Pune : Policenama online Pune | Mohan Joshi, a former MLA and Vice-President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has termed the agitation by MP Girish Bapat for the early start of Hinjewadi Metro as a mere stunt. He claimed that that the failure of major projects in the city is the main reason for his frustration. Why Bapat is agitating, asks Joshi.

The administration has received all necessary permissions and completed the initial preparations for the metro route connecting Shivajinagar to Hinjewadi. Even 98% of land acquisition has also been completed. Therefore, the work of Metro (Pune Metro) can start anytime. Despite knowing this, MP Bapat started an agitation demanding to start work.

BJP leaders as well as Punekars are aware that the stunt is only to please the party’s senior leaders. The Government of Maharashtra has always supported the Pune Metro route. “Bapat’s attempt to mislead the state government by agitating will not succeed,” said Joshi.
The Pune Smart City scheme has failed. Important projects like the Mula-Mutha river rejuvenation, JICA project and the water supply scheme have been delayed for almost five years. MP Bapat should agitate for it, advises Mohan Joshi
