Uddhav Thackeray’s wife Rashmi is most likely to become the new Shiv Sena president, they said. Uddhav Thackeray has been staying away from public functions for the past some months. He has been working from home after a surgery of the spine. He has been finding it difficult while carrying out his duties as the party head and the chief minister. Hence, he has decided to appoint a new party president.

There is a possibility that a member of the Thackeray family will be appointed the new president in coming months. Going by Aditya Thackeray’s age and his current responsibilities, Rashmi Thackeray remains the only candidate. Nobody from the party would oppose her name. It was learnt that party leaders are discussing the possibility.
After Uddhav Thackeray’s swearing in as the chief minister, Rashmi has been looking after Saamna, the party’s mouthpiece. She has been involved in making decisions at various levels regarding Saamna for over two years now.
Political analysts say that Rashmi Thackeray had played an important role in forming the Mahavikas Aghadi government. Shiv sainiks expect a decision about the party chief before the civic polls in Mumbai.
There is a thin possibility that Uddhav Thackeray would campaign on a war footing in the civic polls. Therefore, if Rashmi Thackeray is made the party head, a major change will take place in the Shiv Sena. Women are respected in the Thackeray family. The Late Balasaheb Thackeray’s wife Meenatai commanded great respect. If Rashmi Thackeray gets to head her party, it would increase the importance of women in the State politics.
The women who are in the leading positions in the Congress and the NCP would also get more respect. Analysts predicted long-term changes in the State politics if Rashmi Thackeray is appointed the Shiv Sena head. Therefore, political circles are abuzz with her name as the next Shiv Sena chief.
