Top Bureaucrats Assumed New Roles: Bhushan Gagrani and Saurabh Rao Appointed as Mumbai and Thane Municipal Commissioner Respectively

Pune: The state government has appointed three administrative officers as municipal commissioners of Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporations. A few days ago, the Election Commission removed many important administrative officers from the posts of municipal commissioners and other important posts. In this background, the recent appointments by the state government are significant.

Amidst this, the most important appointment is that of administrative officer Bhushan Gagrani. Gagrani has been appointed as Commissioner of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, a post that was earlier held by Iqbal Singh Chahal. Senior bureaucrat Gagrani is a 1990-batch IAS officer and has served as the state urban development department secretary and principal secretary in the earlier Maha-Vikas Aaghadi government.

Similarly, Saurabh Rao has been appointed as Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation. The earlier Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation, Abhijit Bangar, has been appointed as Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Similarly, Kailash Shinde has been entrusted with the charge of Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner.

Apart from this, the Maharashtra government has transferred many administrative officers after the order of the Election Commission. Following this, the appointment orders of three senior officers were issued today. The appointment order has been issued by S. K. Das, Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra.
