Woman arrested for selling fake gold ornaments

PUNE : Policenama online  – Pune Crime News | A woman came with hallmarked gold and she selected a new ornament by giving her old gold. The jeweller trusted her and gave her the new ornament. When the old gold given by the woman was melted, it came to light that it was fake. The woman had cheated three to four jewellers and she did not realise that her trick will not work again. The police have arrested her. (Pune Crime News)

 

The arrested accused has been identified as Sakshi Avinash Soni (32), a resident of Premji Jeevan Sanitorium, Pune station.

 

A jeweller of Ganesh Peth has lodged a complaint (145/23) at the Khadak police station.

 

According to the police, the complainant has a jewellery shop at Kasture Chowk. A woman had given her old ornaments and purchased new ornaments. The gold given by her turned out to be fake. She had done this type of cheating for three/ four times. The jeweller had informed other jewellers about this incident. The woman came to the same shop again on Saturday. She had brought a duplicate chain which had a hallmark. She wanted to give this chain and purchase a gold mangalsutra. The complainant became alert and he informed the police. The police immediately arrived at the shop and arrested the woman. PSI Jog is probing the case.
