Woman Prisoner Raped By 5 Policemen Including Police Station In-Charge For 10 Days In Lockup

Bhopal : A sensational incident has come to light in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. Here a woman has alleged that she was raped for 10 days in a lockup. Five policemen, including the police station in-charge, sub-divisional police officer, raped her. This incident is being said to be of last May. The woman is jailed for murder. She made the allegations before an Additional District Judge and a team of lawyers.

According to the TOI report, the team of judges and lawyers arrived to inspect the jail on 10 October. Following the woman’s allegation, the district judge ordered a judicial inquiry into the case. The judge has also asked the Superintendent of Police of Rewa to take action in the matter. The woman says she was raped between May 9 and May 21, while police say she was arrested on May 21.

On October 10, the woman alleged in front of the legal team in jail that the police kept her in lockup and during this time she was raped by SDOP, police station in-charge and three constables. The woman says that a woman constable stationed at the police station opposed it, but senior officials scolded her and forced her to remain silent.

Under the Supreme Court order, the legal team regularly visits jails and meets women prisoners and submits their reports. Satish Mishra, who is in the legal team, asked the woman why she did not complain about it earlier? The woman said that she had told Warden about the incident three months earlier. Warden also agreed that the woman had told her about the incident.
