ACB detains two including a woman for demanding bribe of Rs 1 lakh, accepting Rs 10K to get insurance claim

Pune : Policenama onlinePune ACB Trap | The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught two officials red-handed while demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh and accepting Rs 10,000 from a man to settle his workers’ insurance of his mother. The action was taken on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Yogita Arun Shendge (40) from Thergaon and Farooq Hanif Pathan (56) from Bopodi. (Pune ACB Trap)

A 21-year-old man has lodged a complaint at the ACB, Pune. The complainant’s mother died in February 2022. She was registered as a construction laborer with the Maharashtra Building and Construction Workers Welfare Board. Therefore, to get the workers’ insurance of Rs 2.34 lakh, Yogita Shendge demanded one Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. As the complainant did not agree to pay a bribe, he approached the ACB.

 

The Pune ACB team verified the complaint on Tuesday. It was found that Yogita Shendge had sought bribe of Rs 1 lakh, out of which Rs 10000 were demanded as an advance. Yogita Shendge was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. Farooq Shaikh helped her to take the bribe. The police have detained both of them and a case has been registered against them at Shivajinagar Police Station.

The action was taken by a team of Pune ACB under the guidance of SP ACB Amol Tambe and Addl SP Suraj Gurav.
