Pune : Policenama Online on Tuesday reported that the Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (MIM) would field its candidate from the city. Former NCP corporator Anis Sundke’s name was announced in a meeting attended by MP Asaduddin Owaisi and MP Imtiyaz Jaleel in the city.

Anis Sundke is an Ajit Pawar protégé. He was elected as a corporator from Kondhwa. His ward falls under the Shirur Lok Sabha constituency. It is shocking that Sundke was campaigning for Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil for the past few days.

Suddenly, he entered the fray from Pune. MP Asaduddin Owaisi said, “We will put all our strength in this election. We all feel that we should contest the Pune Lok Sabha seat. I am sure Anis Sundke will be elected with a huge margin.”

It is said that it could be a ploy to split the Muslim vote, which could have traditionally gone to Ravindra Dhangekar, who is already facing problems due to the VBA candidate.

Following the announcement of his candidature, Sundke said, “I have been working in Pune for the past 25 years. I will put all my might into it. I will try to solve pending issues in the city. I have good relations with people from all religions and castes. I have worked with the Congress and then with the NCP. I have worked in the PMC too. I have a good network in the city.”
