Deputy Collector, lawyer, senior clerk walk into ACB trap, accept bribe of Rs 1 lakh

Buldhana :  Policenama online –: Buldhana ACB Trap | A bribe of Rs 2.17 lakh was demanded to avail the government compensation for the ancestral land that was being acquired for a project. Among them, the Deputy Collector (Medium Land Acquisition Project), an advocate and a senior Clerk from the district collectorate were caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Buldhana while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The action taken at the district collector’s office. The ACB took this action on Wednesday.
Deputy Collector Bhikaji Sheshrao Ghuge (56), clerk Nagorao Mahadevrao Kharat (47) from Buldhana, advocate Anant Shivajirao Deshmukh (32) from Buldhana are the accused. An 18-year-old person from Hingna Ichhapur in Nandura taluka lodged a complaint with the Buldhana Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The ancestral land of the complainant was acquired by the government for the Jigaon Project. Clerk Nagorao Kharat asked the complainant to pay Rs 2.17 lakh to the Dy Collector to get government compensation for his acquired land. After the compromise, Ghuge settled for a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The complainant approached the Buldhana ACB.

A team of Buldhana ACB carried out the verification on Monday. Ghuge demanded a bribe of Rs. 2.17 lakh and agreed to accept Rs 1 lakh after a compromise. The team laid a trap at the collector’s office on Wednesday. Deputy Collector Ghuge asked to hand over the bribe to lawyer Anant Deshmukh. Deshmukh was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. Later, Bhikaji Ghuge and clerk Nagorao Kharat were detained.

This action was taken by a team of Washim DySP (ACB) Gajanan Shelke, PI Mahesh Bhosale, police constables Vilas Sakhre, Nitin Tavlarkar, Praveen Bairagi, Jagdish Pawar, Vinod Lokhande, driver Arshad Sheikh under the guidance of Amravati Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Division Maruti Jagtap,  Addl SP Arun Sawant, DSP Devidas Gheware.
