Hemant Rasne files petition in Bombay High Court against PMC
Pune : Policenama online – Hemant Rasne | The tenure of the current body of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) ended on March 14 and the government has appointed Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar as the administrator of the civic body. However, Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasne claims that his rights are unaffected and has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against the civic body.
Since the civic body’s tenure is over, the corporators of the civic body have become former corporators. However, Rasne says that the Standing Committee can never be suspended and it can take decisions and got the next year’s budget approved and decided to send it to the GB for its final approval. However, the tenure of the civic body ended on the same day.
Since the civic body’s tenure was over, the state government appointed the civic chief as the administrator of the PMC. The civic administration had sought guidelines about the functioning of PMC. As per government’s instructions, Kumar took some decisions on Tuesday. While discussing the decisions taken by him, he informed about the functioning of the PMC as per government guidelines. The heads of various departments will raise issues and a final decision will be taken later, he said. However, Rasne filed a petition in the Bombay High Court. Kumar said he had received a notice from the lawyer regarding the petition.
Rasne has filed a petition against the civic body, civic chief, administrator and the chief secretary of the Urban Development Department.
He has argued in the petition that the Standing Committee has been set up as per the provisions of the constitution and Maharashtra State Municipal Corporation Act. He says that the Standing Committee is supreme and can never be suspended. He says the committee has some special powers which cannot be given to anyone else.
