IAS Ayush Prasad | In a significant administrative reshuffle, Ayush Prasad has been appointed as the new Collector of Jalgaon, succeeding Aman Mittal. Known for his sharp intellect and multifaceted personality, Ayush comes from a family with a long-standing tradition of serving in the administrative sector, spanning four generations from his great-grandfather to himself.

The recent evening saw the transfer of IAS officers, and Ayush Prasad assumed the esteemed position of Jalgaon Collector, leaving his previous role as CEO of Pune Zilla Parishad. Hailing from a distinguished family background, Ayush’s great-grandfather served as a chartered officer in the Indian Civil Service (ICS) during the British era. His grandfather, too, was an esteemed Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.

Presently, Ayush’s father, A. M. Prasad, serves as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, holding the position of Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) in the Intelligence Department of Karnataka. Adding to the family’s illustrious reputation, his mother, Dr. Amita Prasad, is an IAS officer and currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Central Water Department, spearheading the Mission Ganga project. Impressively, his younger sister has completed her law degree.

Ayush’s education was a testament to his adaptability, having attended 12 different schools due to his father’s frequent transfers. After completing his engineering degree from Manipal Institute in 2010, he played a pivotal role in developing mobile wallets while working at the Innovation Lab of TCS. His thirst for knowledge led him to undertake a course in Liberal Arts and Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, after securing the Young India Fellowship. Subsequently, he joined the State Bank as a deputy manager and actively participated in welfare activities across Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Beyond his administrative prowess, Ayush is also an accomplished writer and columnist.

In his pursuit of public service, Ayush Prasad appeared for the UPSC exams in 2014 but narrowly missed success. Undeterred, he persevered and secured an impressive All India rank of 24 in his second attempt, thus joining the esteemed Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He chose the Maharashtra cadre for his service and underwent thorough training. Ayush’s first assignments included serving in Akola and later as Chief Executive Officer of Pune Zilla Parishad, where he earned accolades for promoting transparency in teacher transfers and effectively managing funds. His dedicated service during the challenging times of the Covid era was widely appreciated.

Now at the helm of Jalgaon district as Collector, Ayush Prasad’s appointment has raised hopes of accelerated development and positive change under his able leadership. His reputation as a conscientious and competent officer further reinforces the belief that Jalgaon is in capable hands, and the district is set to progress under his guidance.
