Maharashtra: Newest resort to enter MTDC properties, Koynanagar to soon open for tourists

Pune: At present, there are six residential MTDC properties under the Pune division, Mahabaleshwar, Panshet, Matheran, Malshej, Karla, and Bhimashankar. The resort koynanagar has now become the seventh.

The tourism sector is one of the major sectors that got affected by the COVID-19, the nationwide lockdown severely affected tourism not only in the country but across the world. There are several cities i.e. Agra, Jaipur, Shimla, and many more, whose economy and livelihood largely depend upon tourist destinations. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is boosting tourism in the state by introducing new resorts and opening places to expand and promote tourism in the state. MTDC has decided to start a residence at Koyna dam area in koynanagar located at Satara district. Currently, there are six residential MTDC properties under the Pune division; koynanagar has now become the seventh.

Koynanagar is a beautiful site located on the upper side of the Koyna dam; this place has some very popular local serene sites like Koyna dam, Koyna hydroelectric project, Nehru Park, Ozarde falls, and koyna sanctuary. It is quite a popular spot and is crowded with tourists throughout the year.

MTDC is now planning to promote Koynanagar by incorporating and arranging for jungle safaris, destination weddings, pre-wedding shoots, corporate and family outings. MTDC has reclaimed the premises and given a complete makeover and a very attractive look. This place will be open for all starting from the first week of December.

MTDC is planning to open the koynanagar resort by keeping all the necessary measures like sanitizers, temperature checks, daily disinfectant treatment for the surfaces and all preventive measures are being carried out due to the COVID-19 situation.

Deepak Harne, regional manager of MTDC, said, “ The resort has two dormitories and 22 rooms including cottages, bungalows, family rooms, a restaurant, and a garden. The location of the resort is a very beautiful sight; it is located on the upper side of the Koyna dam.”
