Mumbai | Kolhapur lass Leena Nair becomes Global Head of French luxury brand Chanel

Mumbai : Policenama online It was a moment of pride for India when Parag Agrawal, a person of Indian origin (PIO), was given an important position in Twitter. Now, French luxury group Chanel has appointed Leena Nair as its Global CEO, who has spent her childhood in Kolhapur.

Nair was earlier the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) of Unilever. She is joining her new company Chanel from New Year. This was revealed by Chanel.

Nair, a PIO, has around 30 years of experience in the global consumer goods sector. She has done her management education from the Jamshedpur-based Xavier School of Management during 1990-92. She is a gold medalist from the school. She has been credited with many HR interventions. ‘Career By Choice’ is one of them, under which the women who have left their career midway have been made a part of the workforce.

Leena Nair hails from Kolhapur

Kolhapur is Leena Nair’s native city. She has done her schooling from the Holy Cross Convent School, Kolhapur. When she got admission in the Xavier College, Jamshedpur, she found it tough to persuade her parents to send her to the college. She had to travel by train for 48 hours, which her father was not agreeing to.

To London in 2013

Born in 1969, Nair went to London from India in 2013. She was made the Global Vice-President at the Anglo-Dutch company headquarters in London. She became the first woman and the youngest CHRO of Unilever in 2016.
