Nationalist Congress Party MLA Amol Mitkari has criticised Patil’s statement. He said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had set up a welfare state for farmers and it was not a state of Hindus. He said Muslims were also a part of the state and Patil should be aware of this.

He added that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s name was being used as per the party’s convenience and sometime ago, Prime Minister Modi had been compared with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
