Pune: Ajit Deshmukh has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner at Pune Municipal Corporation. He will take charge in Pune from December 17. He was earlier posted as the Deputy Collector of Solapur.
Deputy Secretary of State Revenue and Forest Department Dr Madhav Veer has issued orders in this regard.
The Pune corporators had demanded that instead of sending officers on deputation to the Municipal Corporation, only the officers of the Pune Municipal Corporation should be appointed as Deputy Commissioners. Accordingly, the state government has appointed Rajendra Jagtap as the chairman of the PMP.
However, since then, officers are being re-appointed on deputation as Deputy Commissioners. In connection with the deputation to the post of Deputy Commissioner, the services of Ajit Deshmukh have been handed over to the Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, Ministry. Deshmukh will take charge from today, December 17.
