Pune: In a press conference held today, Keshav Upadhye, Chief Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing them of engaging in divisive politics and attempting to redistribute wealth to appease minorities. Upadhye’s remarks come amidst escalating tensions between the two political parties in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.

Upadhye asserted, “The dangerous politics of pandering solely to minority Muslims, as stated by the Congress, has shaken the foundation of our social structure. The revelation that the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh claimed in 2006 that minorities, specifically Muslims, have the first right over the country’s resources has ignited concerns.”

Highlighting the BJP’s stance on inclusive development, Upadhye warned against the Congress’s alleged agenda of wealth redistribution, stating, “If the Congress comes to power, it will implement policies detrimental to the interests of the poor, stripping them of their wealth and distributing it to other communities.”

The BJP spokesperson further accused the Congress of neglecting the development of Dalits, backward classes, and OBC communities in favour of appeasing minorities to secure votes. He emphasised the Modi government’s commitment to ensuring the equitable distribution of resources and opportunities across all sections of society.

“We believe in the concept of Antyodaya, where the benefits of government schemes reach the most marginalised individuals in society. The BJP has consistently worked towards empowering every social group and ensuring inclusive growth,” Upadhye asserted.

Characterising the political landscape as a battle between the Congress’s appeasement politics and the BJP’s development agenda, Upadhye underscored the people’s support for policies fostering growth and prosperity. He accused the Congress of resorting to Maoist-Naxalite ideologies in their pursuit of wealth redistribution.

Upadhye lambasted the Congress’s election manifesto for its proposal to conduct a nationwide survey of caste and sub-caste on economic status, alleging that it aims to redirect wealth from surplus holders to minorities. He cited Rahul Gandhi’s recent statements as evidence of the Congress’s intent to implement such policies.

“The Congress’s intention to scrutinise the country’s financial institutions and distribute wealth was revealed by Rahul Gandhi’s remarks during the manifesto release and subsequent campaign speeches,” Upadhye claimed.

He further criticised historical Congress policies, such as the Compulsory Deposit Scheme Act of 1963 and 1974, which mandated citizens to deposit a portion of their income with the government. Upadhye alleged that these measures were orchestrated to appease minorities at the expense of the general populace.

At the end, Upadhye expressed confidence in the BJP’s ability to thwart the Congress’s alleged conspiracy. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to safeguarding the unity of India’s social fabric and denounced the Congress’s pursuit of divisive politics.

The press conference was attended by prominent BJP members, including Head of Media Navnath Ban, Regional Spokespersons Sandeep Khardekar and Kunal Tilak, along with other key figures from the West Maharashtra Media Department, Amol Kavitkar, and Pune City Publicity Heads Sanjay Mayekar, Puushkar Tuljapurkar, and Hemant Lele.
