Pune: Pune News | The women wing of Congress of Pune City on Friday, July 28 held a public protest at Goodluck Chowk ,Artist Katta at around 11am against the women and child development minister Smriti Irani.

The protest was held for Irani’s silence on Manipur issue.

The protest was held under the chairmanship of Puja Manish Anand. Anand has condemned Smriti Irani and the central government for taking action against women even though she is women

Puja Manish Anand said, “Smriti Irani is trying to mislead the people of the country by considering the sacred Lok Sabha as her acting field and saying anything without thinking. She has not said a single word about the tragic incident happened in Manipur. Manipur has been burning from last two months.”

Congress leader Mohan Dada Joshi expressing his opinion said, ” We always respect artists. Union Minister Smriti Irani who holds a constitutional position was expected to speak against the oppression of women, but as usual she is just misleading people and the reason all the women are unhappy with her. Prime Minister Modi is a Crime Minister.”

Joshi along with the Congress women party workers shouted slogans like ‘BJP Bhagao, Savidhan Bachao’.

Earlier under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi the women united and fought the freedom struggle, but now in India BJP leaders and officials are oppressing women and the PM Modi is taking a watchful stance on this sensitive issue.

Prachi Dudhane while expressing her opinion said, ” Smriti Irani is a Manusmriti Irani. Irani does not remember her duty as a minister of women and child development and she is just seeing the injustice and oppression of women as a political issue. The Congress party is fighting for the dignity of women. Atrocities, violence and victimization of women in Manipur by corrupt and violent actions of the RSS led BJP will be responded by the Congress by establishing love and peace. We will thwart the BJP’s efforts to implement dictatorship instead of constitution.
