Pune Crime | Absconding criminal in MCOCA case arrested by anti-extortion cell of Pune police

Pune : Policenama online  Pune Crime | A criminal who was absconding in a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case has been arrested by a team of anti-extortion cell of Pune police. The action was taken on Thursday in Shivne near the Shinde bridge. He had escaped after action was taken against him under MCOCA and the police were searching for him.

The accused has been identified as Akshay Ravindra Khawale, a resident of Ramnagar, Warje. Officials of the anti-extortion cell were patrolling in their area when they received a tip that the accused was going to arrive near Shinde bridge in Shivne.

The police laid a trap and arrested him. After he was interrogated, he told the officials that a 17-year-old boy, who is an accused in a case registered at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, was going to come to Warje to meet him. The police arrested the boy.

The action was taken by a team of police officials including API Sandeep Buwa, PSI Vikas Jadhav, policeman Amol Awhad, Vijay Kamble, Nitin Kamble, Ramesh Choudhar, Gajanan Sonvalkar, Duryodhan Gurav and Amar Pawar under the guidance from CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Additional CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Shrinivas Ghadge and ACP Gajanan Tompe.
