Pune Crime News | Notorious criminal vandalises restaurant on Sinhagad Road; Also assaults API

PUNE: Pune Crime News | A notorious criminal vandalised a restaurant at Kolhewadi in the limits of Khadakwasla village on Kirkatwadi-Sinhagad Road on Sunday night at 9 pm.

What is shocking is that the API of Haveli police station Nitin Nam who had arrived on the spot, was also assaulted by the criminal. The criminal has been identified as Vaibhav Ikkar (22), a resident of Kolhewadi. A question is being raised that if police are not safe, then what will safeguard the citizens.

Notorious criminal Vaibhav Ikkar and his aide had gone to Indraprastha restaurant. They argued with restaurant staff and broke alcohol bottles. After getting information, API Nitin Nam and other policemen of Haveli police station arrived on the spot.
Vaibhav Ikkar abused the police and assaulted API Nam and the police went away.

After some time, the criminal assaulted restaurant employees and damaged the refrigerator, glass doors, liquor bottles and other items causing damage worth ₹1 to ₹1.5 lakh and took away ₹25,000 from the counter. The entire incident has been recorded on CCTV. The operator of the restaurant has lodged a complaint with the Haveli police.

Vaibhav Ikkar has thrice assaulted officers and policemen of Haveli police station. He has created a ruckus in Kolhewadi many times by openly declaring that he is not scared of anyone. Three FIRs of obstructing government work are registered against him apart from several other FIRs.

The criminal has declared that he had assaulted the police and they are scared of him and is spreading terror in the area. Local residents and businessmen are worried after this incident. Residents hesitate to speak against the criminal because of a reign of terror created by him. It remains to be seen whether stern action would be taken against the criminal or if the police are going to wait for some of their colleagues to get assaulted.

The officer in charge of Haveli police station, IPS Anmol Mittal, said, “The concerned accused and his aide have been arrested and the details are being checked. This matter will be dealt with sternly. We have formed a team to take strong legal action against the criminal. We will not tolerate open insult of the police and law.”
