Pune Crime | Pune police carry out combing operation: 3,500 criminals searched, 56 live cartridges, 79 spoiled cartridges seized
Pune : Policenama online –Pune Crime | The number of crimes is increasing in Pune city and surrounding areas. Several crimes are happening in the city every day. The police had undertaken a special combing operation to keep a track of criminals. The Pune police crime branch and officials in various police stations searched 3,500 notorious criminals as a part of a special drive. (Pune Crime)
During the combing operation, it was found that 685 gangsters were staying at their residence as per police records. During the search operation, the police seized 2 pistols, cartridges, swords and sickles. The police also took action against a hookah parlour at Chandan Nagar and seized hookah pots and tobacco. The police also arrested Siddharth Rajesh Ashtekar (25), a resident of Chandan Nagar, who is the owner of the hookah parlour.
Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Namdev Chavan, Addl CP Rajendra Dahale, DCPs Bhagyashree Navtake, Priyanka Narnavare, Sagar Patil, Pournima Gaikwad, Rohidas Pawar and DCP (traffic) Rahul Shrirame guided the crime branch officials and teams of local police stations.
The crime branch took action in three cases where pistols were illegally being harboured. Three suspects were arrested. Two pistols, 4 cartridges and 79 spoiled cartridges were seized from them. Twenty nine people were arrested for possessing swords and sickles. Two swords and 21 sickles were seized from them.
Absconding criminal Prathamesh Chandrakant Kamble (18), a resident of Katraj was arrested for beating up Jai Vitkar and Anil Vitkar, residents of Lal Chawl, Gokhale Nagar. Shekhar Anil Modak (27), Pankaj Abhimanyu Ranvare (35), a resident of Ramkrishna Apartment, Baner Road were arrested. Two pistols and four cartridges were seized from them.
In an action taken by a team of unit 1 of the crime branch in Janata Vasahat near Parvati, 56 live cartridges, 79 spoiled cartridges and 970 bullet lids were seized.
Dineshkumar Kallusingh Saroj (34), a resident of Janata Vasahat, near Parvati has been arrested.
