Pune: Pune-Mumbai Railway Traffic | Railway services between Pune and Mumbai experienced disruptions on Wednesday morning due to a breakdown of a freight train’s engine. The stalled train led to significant delays for several other trains arriving in Pune from Mumbai, causing inconvenience to passengers.

According to officials from the Pune Railway Division, the locomotive of a freight train traveling from Mumbai to Pune encountered a failure at Shelarwadi at 9:18 a.m. The train remained stationary for one and a half hours until another locomotive could be arranged from Ghorpadi yard. Eventually, at 10:53 a.m., the halted train resumed its journey.

As a result of the delay, several trains were affected, leading to delays of varying durations. The Mumbai-Pune Intercity train experienced an 88-minute delay, while the Talegaon-Pune local train was delayed by 69 minutes. The Mumbai-Vishakhapattanam train faced a 53-minute delay, the Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express was delayed by 17 minutes, and the Lonavala-Pune local train was held up for 21 minutes. Trains were also impacted in Talegaon and Kamshet.

“The stranded goods train was set in motion once the locomotive from Ghorpadi arrived. Train traffic is gradually returning to normal,” stated a senior officer from the Pune Division.

Passenger activist Harsha Shah highlighted the inconvenience faced by travelers due to the unexpectedly extended delays. However, she also mentioned that the Indrayani Express had passed through the area prior to the incident and arrived at the Pune Railway Station on time, providing some relief to passengers on that particular train.
