Rainfall likely to decrease in Pune: IMD

Pune: Policenama online  – Pune Rains Update | There has been a heavy rainfall in the past week in Maharashtra, including Pune. There is a flood-like situation at many places in the state while many districts are still receiving showers. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a subdued rainfall activity in Pune and surrounding areas in a couple of days. (Pune Rains Update)

 

The rainfall from June to July 14 has been reported to be 33 percent above average in this season. There were no showers in June. However, July has been witnessing excess rainfall. Medium showers are predicted in Pune and surrounding areas while heavy rains are likely in hilly areas on Friday. An orange alert has been issued in the district. However, light to medium rains may occur in Pune and surrounding areas from Saturday.

 

On Thursday, rain took a short break in the city. Pune reported 10.4 mm rainfall. Incidents of landslides and roads caving in were reported in ghat sections in the past couple of days. Traffic slowed down in the city due to snarls and bad condition of roads.
