Pune : Pune Ring Road | The completion of the ring road project in Pune is expected to redirect a significant portion of incoming traffic, reducing congestion in the city and alleviating the suffering of residents, according to Kailas Jadhav, Joint Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). Jadhav expressed confidence in the positive impact that the project will have on traffic congestion in Pune.

To expedite the land acquisition process for the Western Ring Road, Jadhav emphasized the need to accelerate the process and also plan for land acquisition for the Eastern Ring Road. He further highlighted that the MSRDC offers the highest compensation system not only in the state but also in the entire country, ensuring fair compensation for land acquisition.

In a joint workshop organized by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, officials from various concerned agencies, including the Land Acquisition Officer, Provincial Officer, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, Mandal Officer, and Talathi, gathered at the Collectorate to discuss strategies for expediting the land acquisition process. During the workshop, Jadhav emphasized the importance of starting the project promptly by expediting the land acquisition process. Consent agreements and consent awards should be given top priority, as the compensation amount has been satisfactorily fixed for this project. In fact, a consent agreement can provide an additional increment of 25 percent of the gross remuneration. Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Superintending Engineer Rahul Vasaikar, Additional Collector Hanumant Argunde, and other officials were present during the discussion.

Dr. Deshmukh, the District Collector, acknowledged the significant contribution of Pune city and district, which account for 15 percent of the Gross State Product (GSDP) of Maharashtra. The proposed ring road project is expected to further boost economic growth by facilitating the movement of goods. Thus, expediting the land acquisition process is crucial for the timely initiation of the project. Dr. Deshmukh emphasized the need for transparency, addressing public concerns, and ensuring proper documentation to facilitate a smooth and cooperative land acquisition process.

The efforts made in the land acquisition process over the past two years by various departments including Revenue, Land Acquisition, Land Records, and Valuation in Pune district have been commendable. These efforts were witnessed during the land acquisition processes for projects such as the Metro line, Palkhi line, Pune-Meeraj new broad gauge line, Lonand-Baramati new railway line, and Chandni Chowk Integrated Project. To ensure a swift land acquisition process for the ring road project, the Collector stressed the importance of issuing necessary notices, organizing village-wise camps, and involving key personnel such as talathis, mandal officers, deputy tehsildars, and land tax surveyors.

The proactive approach and collaborative efforts of all stakeholders involved in the land acquisition process will be crucial in successfully executing the ring road project.
