Pune : Policenama online  – Wakad police arrest woman for using Watsapp honeytrap to extort money. The woman from Lumbininagar tried to dupe a man from Rahatni. She was arrested from Rahatni.

The accused, Savita Abhimaan Suryavanshi (40, resident of Tadiwala Road slum, Lumbininagar) used to chat with the complainant Sakharam Narayan Nakhate (54, Nakhatevasti, Rahatni).

Nakhate lodged a complaint with Wakad police station on Thursday saying that the accused blackmailed him that she would tell his family about the chats between the two and demanded Rs 20 lakh. She said she would send it to people from his housing society and would put it on social media that he trapped women. She also threatened to commit suicide.

Wakad police laid a trap at Shivar Chowk, Rahatni to catch the accused red-handed. The complainant told he was ready to pay her and called her at Garden Hotel in Shivar Chowk. The police caught her taking money.

She has been sent into police custody till January 2. The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police (CP) Krishna Prakash, additional CP Sanjay Shinde, Deputy CP Anand Bhoite, Assistant CP Shirkant Disley by the team comprising senior police inspector Dr Vivek Mugalikar, police inspector (PI)Santosh Patil, assistant police inspector (API) Abhijeet Jadhav, police sub inspector (PSI) Ganesh Torgal, policemen Bibhishan Kanherkar, Babajaan Inamdar, Rajendra Kale, Bapusaheb Dhumal, Vandu Gire, Baba Chavan, Atiq Shaikh, Prashant Gilbile, Pramod Kadam, Vijay Gambhire, Vikram Kudal, Deepak Sable, Atish Jadhav, Kalpesh Patil and Kaunteya Kharade.
