MUMBAI : Samruddhi Mahamarg | Many accidents have taken place on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg after its inauguration a couple of months ago. Several people lost their lives and many others were injured. Meanwhile, the state government has taken a major decision against the background of the accidents happening at regular intervals.

The state government is going to start air ambulance service on the Samruddhi Mahamarg. The state government is holding discussions with different helicopter companies. It is making efforts to ensure that in the case of an accident, the injured passengers should get timely help. If an accident takes place, the injured can be admitted to hospitals by using air ambulance and hence, the state government is going to sign agreements with helicopter companies.

Earlier, the MSRDC had decided to construct a helipad on the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Sixteen helipads are going to be built near the Samruddhi Mahamarg. As per the proposed plan, the first helipad will be built near the tunnel between Khardi and Igatpuri and the construction is going on.

Meanwhile, some days ago, a private bus was involved in an accident in Buldhana district resulting in the death of 25-26 passengers. It was claimed that the injured did not get any help after the mishap. Since there are resting places or cafeteria on the Samruddhi Mahamarg, the drivers have to face a lot of inconvenience. The opposition parties had demanded that a probe should be carried out into the frequent mishaps on the Samruddhi Mahamarg. After the mishap, the state government is making efforts to provide various facilities on the Samruddhi Mahamarg.
