PUNE: District Collector and Chief of District Disaster Management Authority Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has issued orders that during monsoon, the Varandha Ghat located in Bhor taluka on Pandharpur-Bhor-Mahad National Highway Number 965 DD will be closed for movement of heavy vehicles.
The stretch of the road in the limits of Pune district has hairpin bends and during monsoon, incidents of landslides, sinking of road, falling of trees happen regularly. Hence, a decision has been taken to close the road for movement of heavy vehicles to prevent any loss of life and property.
The orders specify that during the orange and red alerts issued by IMD, the ghat will be closed for all vehicles. When no orange and red alerts are issued, the ghat will be open only for movement of light vehicles.
