Pune: When asked about when will he be receiving the vaccine, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said, “In the first phase, only doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and police are being vaccinated against coronavirus. I will take the vaccine whenever will get the permission for it”. He was speaking to the reporters after the review meeting in Pune.

He further stated, “Currently there are many problems linked with the vaccination drive. Around 60-65% of people got vaccinated in the rural areas whereas only 25-30% from urban areas got vaccinated. Many people are confused and scared about getting vaccinated as a result beneficiaries are not turning up to get the shot. Also, vaccination drive was suspended for two days due to technical glitches in the CoWIN application”.

He further said, “Private doctors should also be vaccinated. We will take a decision on that too”. When Ajit Pawar was asked if he would get the vaccine jab, he replied that if he gets permission he will surely take the vaccine.

The world’s largest vaccination drive is underway in India. On January 16, the Prime Minister had launched India’s vaccination drive against the novel coronavirus via video conferencing. The drive aims to first inoculate millions of its healthcare and frontline workers and reach an estimated 3 crore people by the end of its first phase.
