Ale Phata : Policenama online – A resident of Mukaimala near Ale Phata witnessed a fight between two leopards and a female leopard died during the scuffle on Friday morning.
Many villages in the eastern part of Junnar taluka are located in leopard habitat area. There is a fear of leopards in the minds of the villagers. Some leopards are spotted during the day. There has been an increase in incidents of conflict between leopards and the weaker animal dies in these incidents.
A local farmer was able to witness a fight between two leopards and a female leopard about two and a half to three years old died in the incident. There were injuries on her body and the other leopard had bitten her on the neck, stomach and legs. The second leopard disappeared in the fields.
Social worker DB Walunj arrived at the spot after he came to know about the incident. He informed the forest department about the incident.
There has been a huge increase in the number of leopards in eastern part of Junnar taluka and the area is proving to be inadequate. The cutting of sugarcane is going on and the leopards fight with other leopards to protect their area. The incident may have happened because of this reason.
History-sheeter Yogesh Jagtap killed in firing in Sangvi
Pune : Policenama online – Habitual criminal Yogesh Jagtap, a resident of Sangvi, was killed in a firing in Sangvi on Saturday. He was admitted to Aundh hospital where he succumbed to bullet injuries during treatment.
The firing took place at around 9.30 am at Kate Puram Chowk in Sangvi. According to the police, a Datta Jayanti programme was going on at Kate Puram Chowk, where Jagtap was standing in front of a medical shop. Two bike-borne assailants fired four rounds of bullets at him. He collapsed on the spot and was rushed to the hospital. However, he died while undergoing treatment.
