Fog disrupts flight operations at Pune airport twice last week
Pune : Policenama online – Flight operations were affected due to foggy weather conditions in Pune on Sunday. Around 10 flights landed late at the Lohegaon airport. Two Pune-bound flights originating from Delhi had to be diverted to Mumbai due to the inclement weather.
Flight operations were affected between 6 am and 9 am on Sunday at the airport. Air traffic was streamlined after 9.14 am as weather conditions improved. Visibility was less than 100 metres at the airport. Hence, 10 flights got delayed. Flights were affected for the second time within a week. Around 20 flights were hit due to dense fog on Friday also.
Frequency of such incidents has increased in December. Hence, it has become necessary to change the schedule of flights during the morning session. Travellers onboard diverted flights suffer a lot. On Friday, three flights were diverted to Mumbai while one flight was diverted to Hyderabad. Travelling to Pune from these cities becomes expensive and time-consuming. Air passengers will not be inconvenienced if morning flights are rescheduled in December.
