IPS Atulchandra Kulkarni | Atulchandra Kulkarni appointed Special DGP of NIA
PUNE : IPS Atulchandra Kulkarni | Atulchandra Kulkarni, an IPS officer of 1990 batch and a native of Maharashtra, has been appointed as Special DGP of NIA. It is being said that Kulkarni is the first IPS officer from Maharashtra who has been appointed for the post. The Appointments Committee of the Central Cabinet (ACC) after receiving the proposal from the Home Ministry, made some changes in the Intelligence Bureau, ATS and the three central armed forces and some IPS officers were promoted to Special Director and Special DGP rank. Kulkarni is included in the list of promoted officers.
At present, Kulkarni is working as Addl DGP in NIA. Kulkarni hails from Aran village in Solapur district and is an IPS officer of 1990 batch. He has earlier worked in Latur, Jalgaon, Buldhana, anti-Naxal movement, SP of Bhandara, DCP in Mumbai in charge of security and zone 4. He has also worked in the Intelligence Bureau for 11 years in New Delhi and Mumbai. He has worked in various posts as Joint CP, in Crime Branch, ATS chief and CID chief. He is working as Addl DG in NIA since November 2022. Kulkarni’s appointment is till January 2024.
