The Bund Garden Police have registered a case against Ram Gaikwad from Solapur, Ramchandra Waghmare, Santosh Sakpal from Pune and Rahul Jadhav. Babasaheb Ramhari Sonwane (50) from Hadapsar has lodged a complaint in this regard. In the name of rice puller, large-scale fraud has been exposed at many places across the country.
According to the police, the accused connived and claimed that they had the rice puller metal pot. They held a gathering of people at Hotel Ritz near Sadhu Vaswani Chowk. They claimed if one invests in the rice puller, one would reap huge benefits. thus, they collected huge amounts from people by preparing fake documents. Later, people realised that they were cheated and approached the police.
The econimic offences wing of the crime branch investigated the matter and registered a case. So far, over 100 people have lodged complaints. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the fraud amounted to Rs 5 to 6 crores.
