Pimpri  – Policenama online: In the Morwadi court, which covers the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad, 2,926 civil cases and 48,632 criminal cases totalling 51,558 cases are pending.

At present, every month, 4 to 5 civil cases and 15 to 16 criminal cases are being disposed of. This puts a lot of pressure on the court.

The number of pending cases is likely to increase manifold considering the rate of disposal of cases in the court. Hence, the citizens are facing a lot of inconvenience.

Mayor Usha Dhore said that a fund of Rs 16 crore has been made available for a court building in Moshi.

Ruling party leader Namdev Dhake, standing committee chief Advocate Niitn Landge, Pimpri Chinchwad Advocate Bar Association President Ad Sachin Thopte, Ad Atish Landge, Ad Sanjay Datir Patil, Ad Dinkar Barne, Ad Gaurav Walunj, Ad Nikhil Bodke and all members of the executive were present.

“The building at Morwadi is proving insufficient for the judicial work and this is creating hurdles in the functioning of the courts. Hence, the state government has sanctioned 16.1 acre land of Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority located at Moshi to set up a judicial complex,’’ Dhore said.

Funds of Rs 16 crore have been made available for constructing a new building in Moshi. The land has been transferred to the judicial department and has been half fenced.

However, despite repeated requests for funds, they were not made available and a judicial complex has not been set up so far. Hence, approval has been given for the judicial complex to be set up for Pimpri Chinchwad.

There is a provision of 82 court halls in the proposed complex which will also consist of the district court, senior division and junior division civil court, motor vehicle court, family court, co-operative court, labour court and include the residence of the judges.

The residents of Pimpri Chinchwad have to make visits to the district court in Pune. There is no adequate parking space for vehicles of citizens and advocates in the district court.

There is no family court in PCMC area and women are forced to make trips to the family court in Pune which is a cumbersome experience.

The setting up of different courts in one place will help the residents of Pimpri Chinchwad and the newly included villages. Pimpri Chinchwad is a smart city and the judicial complex has been planned considering the needs of the next 30 years.
