Pune Congress | Congress Pune unit Women’s Wing condemns PM Narendra Modi for insulting girl child
Pune : Policenama online – Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently made a remark during a function. He, apparently, made a faux pas while saying a slogan in this regard. Instead of saying: ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, he reportedly said ‘Beti Patao’, which is derogatory, meaning luring a girl.
The Congress Pune unit Women’s Wing organised an agitation to condemn the remarks saying this insulted women and girls in India. Hence, they condemned this by staging an agitation near the Rani Jhansi statue at Balgandharva Chowk.
The agitation was led by Pune city unit Women’s Wing president Pooja Anand. Congress Pune unit president Ramesh Bagwe, Abhay Chhajed, former MLA Dipti Chaudhari, Arvind Shinde, Sangeeta Tiwari, party functionaries and women workers were present.
“PM Modi’s insulting remarks are reprehensible. Is he teaching this (luring girls) to his party workers? Whenever women are insulted in the country, the BJP either keeps mum or tries to destroy the evidence,” said Pooja Anand, and added that the Congress is raising the slogan ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ (Though I am a girl, I can fight back).
Dipti Chaudhari demanded that Modi’s remark has insulted all women. He should apologise to them.
Raising a question whether girls are meant for ‘luring’, Sangeeta Tiwari said Modi gets lost in his own world while giving a speech. What he said about women and girls came from his mind.
Bagwe, Chhajed and Shinde said that they would not allow Modi to step into Pune. He should dare come to Pune. He ran away from agitating farmers. He would be sent back from the Pune airport.
